07 Countrymen: The writings of John Norquay and friends among the Bungee/English-speaking Métis
Friesen’s selection of Bungee/English-speaking texts, including Norquay’s writings (some of uncertain origin), an interview with his wife Elizabeth in the 1920s, and letters to him from his “countrymen,” the relatives and friends of mixed Indigenous/European ancestry who were most frequently in contact with him. The letters are all in the Norquay Premier’s Papers and are collected here to permit a closer analysis of the perspectives of this fraction of the prairie Canadian Métis community.
